FAQs

Can you give me a quick overview of Mira Vista Care Center?
We are an independent and locally owned skilled nursing facility. Our team specializes in nursing care and medical rehabilitation. Rehabilitation is an important part of a patient’s stay with us. Our comprehensive rehabilitation team includes physical, occupational and speech therapists working in collaboration with clinical case managers, restorative nursing staff, dietitians, social service professionals and other health care providers in order to offer a rehabilitation environment 24-hours-a-day.
What is your rehabilitation program?
We’re proud of our rehabilitation program and the fact that 100% of our patients and families would recommend Mira Vista rehab to others. Our rehabilitation specialists in physical, occupational and speech therapy design an individualized program to help each patient reach his or her highest level of functioning. Our goal is to return each patient home or to a setting of lesser care. Mira Vista’s state-of-the-art equipment complements the personalized, one-on-one treatment of our therapy staff.
What insurance programs do you accept?
We can accept both Medicare and Medicaid. In addition we are a contracting provider for Group Health, Regence, Tricare, United Health, Humana, Uniform Medical Plan and Hospice of the Northwest. Mira Vista accepts other insurance companies under special arrangement.
Do you serve patients with the beginning stages of dementia?
Yes. Patients with mild to moderate dementia are suitable for admission to Mira Vista as long as they require skilled care. We provide security for dementia patients via an electronic Wander guard-type alarm system. Patients with significant dementia, including active wandering problems are not appropriate because Mira Vista is not a locked facility.
Are there qualified, English-speaking staff around the clock?
Yes. All of our staff are highly trained and speak English. All caregivers are certified through a government-approved program and all nurses are licensed and/or registered with the State of Washington. We have licensed nurses and nursing assistant staff here 24-hours-a-day.
Are you a licensed facility?
Yes. Mira Vista is licensed by the State of Washington through the Department of Social and Health Services and all beds are certified by the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We undergo a rigorous annual inspection to maintain our license to provide services.
Do patients go out for activity events? And, are arts, crafts, games and entertainment available?
Yes. We have a dedicated group of staff and volunteers in our activities department. Group and individual programs are designed to meet patients’ leisure interests and therapeutic needs. We offer a wide range of activities and events including arts and crafts, cooking, music, entertainers, sports, exercise, parties, games, special events, gardening and outings.
Is there a way for patients to get help right away if they fall?
Yes. All patients are thoroughly assessed for potential fall risk and measures are put in place to provide for their safety while maintaining their independence. With call cords readily available at each bedside and in each bathroom and while using other appropriate measures like bed and chair alarms and visual checks, we do our best to help patients avoid falling and to be there if they do fall.
How are the rooms set up?
Our rooms are quite spacious and bright. Most are double occupancy with privacy curtains, a bathroom and two wheelchair accessible sinks. All rooms have windows, large closets, call cords, cable television and telephone service. Many of our rooms have wireless internet service. Rooms can be customized with furniture and decorations.
Is there a beauty salon?
Yes. Our beautician visits at least once a week. Appointments can be made by signing up on the beauty salon schedule. Nursing or activities staff members are available to assist with scheduling appointments.
Do you have doctors who visit patients?
Yes. Doctors regularly visit Mira Vista to see their patients. We provide a special examination room for privacy.
How is dental care and foot care taken care of?
We work with local health care providers who offer services either at Mira Vista or in their own offices or clinics.
Can I join my loved one for a meal at Mira Vista?
Yes. Family and friends are welcome to come for breakfast, lunch or dinner at a minimal charge. We have found that the company of family and friends at meals helps patients adjust to the environment more quickly.
